171002-N-OW019-250 U.S 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Oct. 2, 2017) Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Kelly Pfaus, a native of San Antonio, assigned to the deck department aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), observes a CH-47D Chinook, assigned to Army Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 149th General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB), as it lands on the ship’s flight deck. Pearl Harbor is part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
