Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Vaneerde, an aviation machinist’s mate attached to Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Detachment Misawa and native of Santa Barbara, Calif., uses a pneumatic drill to fabricate a part for a P-3C Orion aircraft. AIMD, which conducts maintenance and repairs for deployed aircraft in the 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility, is returning to business as normal, as they wrap up their support of Operation Tomodachi.
