171020-N-RD713-023 SASEBO, Japan (Oct. 20, 2017) Students of Fukuoka University learn about hangar bay operations aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during a ship tour. Bonhomme Richard hosted a tour for 21 Fukuoka University students to provide them an opportunity to learn about U.S. Navy amphibious operations as part of a visit to Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo (CFAS). Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
