Chief Petty Officer Steven Mancini, Riverine Squadron 1 (RIVRON-1), Detachment 3, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, and Gunnery Sgt. Jason N. Shiflet, Dam Security Unit 3 (DSU-3), 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force navigate their Small Unit Riverine Craft to Al Taqaddum during Operation Gibraltar. The operation consisted of inserting at Riverine Launch Site 4 in Ar Ramadi and extracting at the Al Taqaddum Riverine Launch Site. The operation is to familiarize the arriving RIVRON-1 with the area that DSU-3 has been covering for the past six months. RIVRON-1 and DSU-3 are deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar province of Iraq MNF-W to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
