The newspaper details transfer of the “Sooner Group” to the 512th Troop Carrier Wing at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas. The 937th was an early U.S. Air Force Reserve unit stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. The 937th TCG, (later the 937th Air Transport Group and then 937th Military Airlift Group) activated here on January 17, 1963, due to a reorganization by Continental Air Command to better facilitate the mobilization of Reserve forces when needed.
