The Idaho Army National Guard community relations program provides members of the public the opportunity to visit Gowen Field to learn about the unit’s mission and equipment. The program helps build strong bonds with the 21 communities the Idaho Army National Guard is located in throughout the state. While visiting Gowen Field, members of the public can experience what it’s like to be an Idaho Army National Guard Soldier for the day through the use of the unit’s vehicle and weapon simulators.
The Idaho Army National Guard conducted 260 community relations requests last year, which included tours of Gowen Field or local armories; the use of the leadership reaction course and vehicle or weapon simulators on Gowen Field; vehicle and aircraft static displays; aircraft flyovers; the use of the 25th Army Band and the honor guard at public events; and the usage of local facilities for public events
