Marines and sailors stationed on Marine Corps installations in Japan will see a change in their Cost of Living Allowance rates starting the first pay period of January, 2018. Although a decrease will be seen in monthly paychecks, the change is not permanent; the rate fluctuates annually. You will have the opportunity to directly influence 2019 COLA rates by participating in the Living Pattern Survey this summer. If you're concerned about the financial impacts of the 2018 COLA decrease, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and Marine Corps Community Services offer financial planning and counseling services to assist.
