Nowicki, executive officer of the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), greets his family as the ship returns to San Diego from its maiden deployment. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is returning from a regularly scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East.
