During a visit to the Office of Chief of Public Affairs, Los Angeles Office, Maj. Gen. Stephen Lanza, U.S. Army Chief of Public Affairs, and Medal Of Honor Recipient Walter Ehlers, WWII, D-Day, 1st Infantry Division soldier, spend a few moments together at a dinner in Ehlers’ honor, hosted by Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis, on Disney’s property in Anaheim, Calif. Kalogridis chose to honor Ehlers on the D-Day anniversary. Ehlers was officially made an Honorary Citizen of Disney during the dinner and presented a plaque singed by the mayor, Mickey Mouse. OCPA-LA is the Army’s conduit to the most powerful entertainment industry in the world. They serve as the face of the Army that reaches out and works with some of Hollywood’s brightest producers, directors and writers. This effort results in successfully connecting to hundreds of millions of people worldwide telling the Army Story. OCPA-LA assists Disney and other production houses at every stage of the process ensuring realistic and plausible portrayals of America’s Soldiers. The team not only supports the movie industry, it works with independent filmmakers, television shows, game shows, video games, music videos and documentaries. OCPA-LA has worked with two of the last year’s Academy Award nominees, “Winter’s Bone,” nominated for Best Picture and “Restrepo,” nominated for Best Documentary Film of 2010.
