Master Sgt. Scott T. Sturkol, public affairs superintendent, holds up an American flag being flown aboard a C-5M Super Galaxy over the Arctic Circle June 5. Sturkol was one of 14 crew members who flew on a mission that was the Air Force’s first direct delivery airlift mission through the Arctic Circle from the United States to Afghanistan June 5-6. Sturkol is from Headquarters Air Mobility Command Public Affairs at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and his hometown is Wakefield, Mich.
