Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) formally activated the newly formed Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade (ARDB) during an inauguration ceremony on JGSDF Camp Ainoura, Sasebo, Japan, April 6, 2018. The ARDB conducted a combined military demonstrations during the ceremony. The ARDB enhances the capability of the Japanese military to respond to potential incursions and defend contested islands.
