A Sapper Leader Course instructor congratulates a competitor who completed last year's Best Sapper Competition, April 27, 2017, on Gammon Field, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The competition takes 50 teams, 50 miles, in 50 hours, giving Sapper-qualified engineers the opportunity to showcase their skills in specialized engineer and infantry techniques. Instructors prepare the competition from the ground up throughout the year and their goal is to have teams cross the finish line.
