A National Guard member, assigned to Charlie Troop (Long Range Surveillance) 1-158 Cavalry, and an Australian Army Reserve soldier, assigned to the North-West Mobile Force, prepare to embark on a reconnaissance mission to gather intelligence on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit's amphibious landing at Freshwater Bay in Shoalwater Training Area as part of the force-on-force training during Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre 2011 is an exercise designed to train U.S. and Australian forces to plan and conduct combined task force operations to improve readiness and interoperability on a variety of missions from conventional conflict to peace keeping and humanitarian assistance.
