A displaced civilian role-player yells for immediate food and assistance outside of the gates of Contingency Operating Base Panther, during a mock protest, at the Army Reserve’s Guardian Response 18 exercise, April 13, 2018. Hundreds of live role-players and moulaged mannequins, and more than 4,500 Soldiers from across the country participated in GR18, a multi-component training exercise to validate U.S. Army units’ ability to support the Defense Support of Civil Authorities in the event of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear catastrophe. The training audience brought a range of life-saving capabilities such as medical response, decontamination, technical rescue, patient evacuation, communications and logistics support to move people, equipment and supplies by land and air.
