PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 10, 2018) Under Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly receives a familiarization brief and tour of Naval Hospital Pensacola's Connected Corpsmen in the Community Clinic at the Naval Air Technical Training Center. Connected Corpsmen in the Community is a pilot program designed to expand access and convenience of care for active-duty service members and to provide corpsmen with new opportunities to prepare them for future deployments. Modly has initiated a clean-sheet review, or "Education for Seapower" initiative, of the Department of the Navy's approach to education across the Navy and Marine Corps to instill a learning culture in the department where knowledge produces sea power. The Pensacola visit was an opportunity to update Modly on the latest force development approaches for building a talented fleet by taking recruits from "street-to-fleet" and transforming civilians into highly skilled, operational, and combat ready warfighters.
