180512-N-OY799-0887 WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (May 12, 2018) Fireman Jessica Archuletta, from Arleta, California, clears debris from a sprinkler during an aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) countermeasure washdown on the flight deck aboard the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), as part of sea trials. AFFF is a mixture of water and highly concentrated detergent used on the flight deck and hangar bay to smother fires. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
