SAN DIEGO (May 22, 2018) Rear Adm. Dave Welch, commander, Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), far right, poses for a photo with Anti-Submarine Warfare/Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructors (WTIs) and leaders from SMWDC’s Sea Combat Division during the first ASW/SUW WTI Re-Blue event. Re-Blue events are an investment in WTI career professional development, and bring together WTIs of each type - ASW/SUW, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), or Amphibious Warfare (AMW) - to exchange lessons learned and doctrine and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) updates from the Fleet, and to build esprit de corps within the cadre. SMWDC is one of the Navy's five Warfighting Development Centers and its mission is to increase the lethality and tactical proficiency of the Surface Force across all domains.
