On Sept. 2, Craig Q. Timberlake, a graduate of Oldham County High School class of 1977, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the United States Marine Corps. This past February, Timberlake was selected to take command of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. Within a month, Timberlake was leading his brigade in Operation Tomodachi; USPACOM’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief mission at Camp Sendai on the mainland of Japan following a powerful earthquake and tsunami. Timberlake is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he is serving as the deputy commanding general of the III Marine Expeditionary Force and commanding general of the 3rd MEB.
