CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Two hundred and sixty-five ARCENT soldiers tried out for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) July 9 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. The soldiers anxiously reviewed their line up as they prepared to test themselves in the swim event. To pass the swim event, soldiers must swim 100 meters in uniform in four minutes or less and then immediately demonstrate the ability to remove their duty uniform in deep water with no support. The testing for the GAFPB must be administered by a qualified German physical training instructor. If earned, U.S. soldiers may wear the badge on their dress uniform. (U.S. Army photo by Master Sgt.
