Young Kiribatians join U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, during a battle sites tour in Tarawa, Kiribati, July 22, 2018. The tour was held on the 75th anniversary of the battalion’s assault on Red Beach 3 to foster the battalion’s history program and incentivize outstanding performance for select Marines and Sailors. 2/8 is forward deployed to 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan as part of the unit Deployment Program.
