Sixth grader Regina Rodeghiero throws her hands in the air in excitement while running to recover team Fire Boltz final rocket after a launch, March 29, 2018, at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California. Redghiero and her teammates from STARBASE Los Alamitos' STARBASE 2.0 program had two high-scoring qualifying launches for the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) and missed an invitation to the TARC national competition by two points. STARBASE 2.0 is an after school program by the Department of Defense (DoD) to immerse students in science, technology, engineering and math, through hands-on learning and experimentation. STARBASE Los Alamitos is one of two DoD STARBASE locations facilitated by the California Military Department. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Airman Crystal Housman)
