1st Expeditionary Rescue Group conducts combat search and rescue exercise

A Battlefield Airman assigned to the 52nd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron uses a buzz saw to cut into a downed aircraft to reach survivors after a simulated aircraft crash during a combat search and rescue (CSAR) training exercise at a dirt landing strip in Iraq, July 15, 2018. The CSAR exercise was conducted to help validate required training to perform mission taskings and utilization of various assets on a large scale. Battlefield Airmen assigned throughout the combined joint operations area are conducting operations supporting Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve. CJTF- OIR aims to enable and equip local forces to take ISIS head on while leveraging Coalition nation airpower to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. (U.S. Air Force photo by SSgt Keith James)
