NORFOLK, Va. (Aug. 10, 2018) Vice Adm. John D. Alexander, commander, U.S. Third Fleet, passes through sideboys as he arrives at USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) change of command ceremony at Vista Point onboard Naval Station Norfolk. The change of command ceremony is a time-honored Naval tradition in which the transfer of responsibility, authority, and accountability occurs from one individual to another individual.
