Family members watch as EMC(SW/AW) John Paul Valenzuela from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) re-enlists aboard the USS Wisconsin (BB-64). The USS Wisconsin is an Iowa-Class Battleship moored permanently as a museum ship next to the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. The ship, and its iconic turret #1 serve as a popular venue for re-enlistments and military ceremonies for area commands. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum serves as conduit for conducting these ceremonies free of charge. To inquire about setting up a military ceremony aboard the ship or in the museum’s gallery, contact their Special Events Coordinator, Tom Dandes at Thomas.Dandes@navy.mil or at (757) 322-3106.
