U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Steven Caruana, an air traffic controller with Alpha Detachment, Marine Air Control Squadron 4 (MACS-4), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, studies pace counting in order to establish runway setups during Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course 1-19 at Dateland Airfield, Arizona, Sept. 10, 2018. WTI is a seven-week training event hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, which emphasizes operational integration of the six functions of Marine Corps aviation in support of a Marine air-ground task force. WTI also provides standardized advanced tactical training and certification of a unit instructor qualifications to support Marine aviation training and readiness, and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics.
