Planning to mitigate extreme heat is a routine event at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground—last year, Yuma had more than 100 days in which the temperature exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and 175 in which the temperature was at least 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The proving ground's workforce has not had a reportable heat injury since 2012.
