Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen, commander of NATO and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan, blows a whistle to kick off the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon Forward at ISAF Headquarters, Oct. 30. Twenty people, from multiple services and nations serving with ISAF throughout Kabul, ran the 26.2 miles. This is the 36th year the USMC has conducted the race.
