Air Force Lt. Col. Douglas McCobb took first place in the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon Forward satellite marathon held in Kabul, Afghanistan, Oct. 30, with a finishing time of 3:19:45. Twenty participants began the 26.2-mile race at 6:45 a.m. The course, while flat, was at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level. McCobb is deployed from Pentagon Legislative Liaison Office in Washington, D.C. McCobb has now completed 15 marathons and eight ultra-marathons.
