An AH-64D “Apache” pilot in the 1st Attack-Reconnaissance Battalion, 149th Aviation Regiment of the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, runs simulations in the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer. The trainer allows pilots to hone their skills in the simulator before performing live fire exercises on the range. The battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Randall Wright, is based in Houston and is part of the 36th Infantry Division. While most of the Soldiers are from the Texas Army National Guard, the 1-149th includes a company from the Mississippi Army National Guard. The aircrews fired 30mm rounds, 2.75-inch rockets and simulated Hell Fire missiles during the exercise May 19-31, 2018. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
