Staff Sgt. David Conner, center, delivers his final words to his team before beginning the return leg of their seventh convoy escort mission from Camp Adder, Iraq, Oct. 28, 2011. “The changes since my 2006 tour in Baghdad are immeasurable. Such difference. The vehicles, the tactics, the IEDs, the technology, the constraints… It’s almost a different war.” said Staff Sgt. Conner. In their first 90 days, the 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry "Iron Rangers," 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division "Red Bulls" provided nearly 700,000 miles of convoy security missions for the draw down from Iraq. The Iron Rangers average three times as many missions as their predecessors in support of Operation New Dawn.
