Sgt. Paul Kuusisto, from Two Harbors, Minn., ground guides his scout Caiman Mine Resistant Ambush Protected toward their seventh convoy escort mission from Camp Adder, Iraq, Oct. 28, 2011. “There’s no greater honor than to lead these men into combat.” said Kuusisto. On his last deployment, Kuusisto was gunner in an M1A2SEP main battle tank in Baghdad in 2004. “This tour is a lot smoother than that one,” he said. In their first 90 days, the 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry "Iron Rangers," 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division "Red Bulls" provided nearly 700,000 miles of convoy security missions for the drawdown from Iraq. The Iron Rangers average three times as many missions as their predecessors in support of Operation New Dawn.
