On display at the Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton, Virginia (roughly 40 minutes from our museum in favorable traffic via I-64W) is an F-4E Phantom. Phantoms were used by the US Navy and US Air Force extensively during the Vietnam War. The tandem, two-seater aircraft was used as an interceptor, fighter/bomber, and in a reconnaissance role. They could carry over 18,000 pounds of weapons and travel at speeds in excess of Mach 2. (US Navy Photo by Max Lonzanida/Released)
