181102-N-XT039-2068 Norfolk (Nov. 2, 2018) Lt. j.g. Ryan Litchert, the assistant operations officer assigned to the Grandmasters of Helicopter Maritime Squadron (HSM) 46, directs an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to his squadron as it prepares to land on the flight deck of the guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) during flight operations. USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) carrier strike group (CSG) cruiser-destroyer (CRUDES) units are conducting the first East Coast CRUDES Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise. SWATT is a training exercise led by the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) to improve the Fleet’s lethality, capability and readiness. Leyte Gulf is currently home ported in Norfolk, and conducting work-ups in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
