With more than 2,500 charities from which to choose, the Combined Federal Campaign is the nation's only organization authorized to solicit charitable donations from federal workers. Established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, the campaign runs from Sept. 1 through Dec. 15 this year. Soldiers deployed overseas also have an opportunity to make contributions various means, including one-time online donations.
