Sgt. Russell Rivero, an artilleryman with Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, is guarding the burning of about two tons of ammonite Nov. 13. The ammonite, an alternative to TNT, was no longer safe or usable for its intended purpose, which is mining and quarrying. The safest way to dispose of the ammonite is to burn it.
