Staff Sgt. Kelvin L. McDonald (right), explosive ordnance disposal team leader, 4th Platoon, 1st EOD Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, is awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals during an award ceremony aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 7. McDonald, from Visalia, Calif., received the medals for heroic service in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. During the pursuit of an individual seen emplacing improvised explosive device components, McDonald rendered safe nine IEDs in five hours.
