The bell was used during the ceremony to ring the names of the ships destroyed Dec. 7, 1942. Stroud, 22, who hails from Turlock, Calif., serves with Combat Logistics Battalion 11. The battalion provides logistics and services for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which embarked USS Makin Island, USS New Orleans and USS Pearl Harbor in San Diego Nov. 14, beginning a seven-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East regions.
