U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Mark E. Dass, an engineer equipment operator with Engineer Support Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, receives the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal during an award ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Dec. 21, 2018. Dass and four additional Marines were awarded for their actions as responders to the scene of a motorcycle accident while off-duty on Nov. 4, 2018, ultimately saving the life of an injured rider.
