Kennedy Corichi in his den in El Paso, Texas, June 2. The Army combat veteran and avid community volunteer was the recipient of a new home via Habitat for Humanity’s Veteran’s Build program. According to Habitat, approximately 1.5 million American veterans spend approximately 50 percent of their income on rent or mortgage costs, which is prohibitive. The veteran-focused initiative couples both the need for affordable housing and the abilities of today’s veteran-volunteers to help get that done in local communities. (U.S. Army photo by David Poe)
