Two tanks stand guard over the original Chaffee Gate that once greeted all who entered Fort Knox. The pedestals were constructed in the late 1970s and made a cameo in the movie, “Stripes.” One of them reveals a fading shadowy image of an era when Fort Knox was the ”Home of Cavalry and Armor.”
