The external armor plates of the last vehicle out of Iraq bears the marking for all to see. The crew of the truck consisted of Sgt. 1st Class Hilda McNamee of Fort Worth, Texas, commander; Sgt. James Alaimo of Lake Dallas, Texas, driver; Pfc. Anthony Palm of Tenino, Wash., gunner; Spc. Vergil Heger of Hilo, Hawaii, crew member; and Spc. Brittany Hampton from Killeen, Texas, combat medic. Except for Hampton, the crew are all military policemen and all are members of Headquarters Company, Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade “Greywolf,” 1st Cavalry Division. Due to their positions within the vehicle, Hampton was the last female out of Iraq and Heger was the last American service member out of Iraq.
