U.S. Army Capt. Alfred Hunte, the operations officer for the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Task Force Duke, says goodbye to his mother, Dawn McCall Jones, at Forward Operating Base Salerno Dec. 30. Jones, a civilian contractor employed by Honeywell, was able to spend five months on the same FOB as her son during his deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom, and is now in the unusual position of having to say goodbye to her son as he redeploys to his home station of Fort Knox, Ky., while she remains in Afghanistan.
