Medal of Honor hero, LTC Charles Kettles received funeral honors this week in his home town of Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was honored by service members from across the state.
The Michigan National Guard Honor Guard served as the Firing Party and Three Man Flag Folding team. Paying tribute were SSG Terence Dickinson, SSG Jose Lopez, SGT Caleb Eddington, SFC Kyle Norton, SGT Michael Perry, SGT Jacob Rizkallah and SGT Eric Henry. Following the ceremonial folding of the flag, it was passed to BG Lawrence Schloegl of the Michigan National Guard who then placed it in the hands of LTC Kettles family.
Eastern Michigan University ROTC students served as Pallbearers, with music provided by the Army Reserve 338th Army Band.
In a special tribute, Medal of Honor recipient Jim McCloughan sang a solo in honor of his Vietnam War brother in arms.
