Representatives from Fort Stewart, Winn Army Community Hospital, Army Medical Command, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District participated in a groundbreaking ceremony to signify the start of construction of a $23.1 million hospital expansion project, Jan. 23, 2012. The project, managed by the Savannah District and awarded to prime contractor McCarthy Building Company, includes a 65,000 square foot expansion and 1,000 square foot alteration to the existing 360,000 square-foot medical facility.
