Sgt. 1st Class Jerry A. Bowling, mortarman course manager with the Arkansas Army National Guard's 233rd Regional Training Institute, shows fellow mechanic Pvt. Daniel J. Houten, an M106 mortar carrier. Houten served as an M113 armored personnel carrier mechanic with the Israel Defense Forces and now is an infantryman in the Georgia Army National Guard.
"Wow, this takes me back," Houten said. In the background is the National Guard GED Plus Complex where during lunch, Houten would look across to the motor pool at the M106 models. He is currently attending basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Ga.
