U.S. Marine 1st Lt. Albert Gonzalez, right, the law enforcement detachment officer-in-charge with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, briefs Marines and Sailors on safety procedures and range conduct prior to starting a range during a MEU exercise. Marines and Sailors from the 22nd MEU’s Command Element and Combat Logistics Battalion 22 qualified for Combat Marksmanship Program tables 3 and 4 in order to maintain combat readiness. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
