The Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial rests on the parade field at U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, April 18, 2019.
This is the only Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial in the country. The walls have over 1,700 names of those who died in the performance of Coast Guard missions. In addition to the names, there is the Rating (job), Unit, and Date of Death. The names begin in the year 1915. That is the year Congress merged the Revenue Cutter Service and the Life Saving Service to form the United States Coast Guard. The center monument with bronze flame pays tribute to the Fallen from the Coast Guard’s five predecessor services. Each side of the monument has an engraved insignia from the service.
