Maj. Gen. Patrick E. Matlock, the commanding general of 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, presents the Legion of Merit to the outgoing Chief of Staff for the 1st Armored Division , Col. John M. Cushing, during a retreat ceremony honoring Cushing's dedication and service to the division at the division's parade field on Fort Bliss, Texas, May 1, 2019.
Cushing was awarded the Legion of Merit for his duties as division's Chief of Staff, a decoration which is given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.
