From far left to right: Spc. Douglas Huston, a full-time student, speaks with Sgt. Tawfic Rashid, a corrections officer, while Sgt. Steven Sokheang, a security guard, shows Sgt. 1st Class Victor Maurizzio and Sgt. Angel Moralez a checklist of maintenance requirements. The troops belong to Detachment 1, 2632nd Transportation Company and were going over pre-mission equipment checks and vehicle maintenance at the Meadowview armory, Jan. 5, 2012. The California Army National Guard troops returned at 2 a.m. the next morning to participate in the 115th Regional Support Group's Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise (EDRE), which had 60 vehicles and 217 troops moving their wheeled assets around the state in response to a earthquake scenario. Troops like Moralez, a commerical truck driver with Vanderpol, performed maintenance on their vehicles and received briefings about what to expect. This is the first training that solely focuses on moving the vehicle specialists and their hauling machines into position to respond to a state emergency.
