Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Menard, center white hat, speaks with Sgt. Maj. of the Army Raymond Chandler III, and points out the quality of the timber used to construct the barracks on Camp Roberts in the 1940s. Menard, who works for Facilities and Engineering, goes on to explain what it takes to convert one of these older "active" barracks into the newly remodeled ones. Command Sgt. Maj. Harold London, far right, the California Army National Guard's most ranking enlisted noncommissioned officer, Brig. Gen. Keith Jones, far left, the post commander for Camp Roberts, and his top non-commissioned officer, Command Sgt. Maj. James Norris, second to right, provided a tour of the facilities, construction, schools, and training during the SMAs visit. He made the stop to look into soldier's training and quality of life.
